measuring your room
Measuring the room and drawing up a simple floor-plan is not as hard as you might imagine. Follow the easy instructions.

Instructions

Step 1. Get your hands on a good long tape measure and ask a friend to help you.

Step 2. Draw a rough layout of your room.

Step 3. Fill the length and width of the room in on your layout.

Step 4. Measure the height of the ceiling and note it down on the layout.

A. Start from the corner of the wall and measure the space from the corner to the window/door. Note it down on the layout.
B. Now measure the width of the window/door and note it down on the layout.
C. If there is more than one window/door along a wall, measure the distance between them and note it down on the layout.
D. Measure the height of the window sill and the height of the top of the window/door. Note these down on the layout.

Step 7. If you have any central light fittings or wall lights, please show where these are - you don't need to be exact.

Step 8. Indicate the approximate position of power points on the walls.

Step 9. Indicate the position of any fittings that can't be moved (e.g. heaters, air conditioners, fireplaces etc). Include the height and width measurements of these fittings.
